Tried the garlic bread, fried scabbard fish with banana and traditional skewered steak. Dishes came with sides of salad, boiled potatoes, peas and rice which were perfect accompaniments. Overall really yummy home cooking type dishes and reasonably priced. 32 euro all together

The restaurant is located in a basement and is a bit hard to spot from the street, but we found it thanks to positive reviews and decided to go straight there. The interior is traditional, and the staff is incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful (they assisted us with our choice). The portions are huge and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended if you want to try something traditional.Since it's in a basement, the only downside is that you can smell the cooking, which perhaps adds a bit of extra “touch”.

My favourite restaurant in Funchal! We visited here for 3 nights in a row.. what a lovely family-run restaurant. We came without reservations, and they quickly accommodated us. It gets quite busy, but the service is really fast and efficient. The staff are welcoming and accommodating. The serving portions are massive, and its not overpriced either.. The mains come with side dishes(rice, steamed potatoes and vegetable.)I especially loved the shrimps, and the caramel pudding dessert. I’ll definitely visit again when we come back to Funchal..

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at this charming local restaurant in Madeira. Every dish felt like it was cooked with love, bringing warmth and comfort to every bite. We ordered the catch of the day, a beautifully grilled sea bass that was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The flavors were authentic and reminded us of the joys of home-cooked meals. If you’re looking for a place that combines heartfelt hospitality with delicious, soulful food, this is the spot to visit. A true gem in Madeira that leaves you feeling right at home!

The restaurant is located downstairs. It’s a viby local restaurant with good local food options and good prices.I had the grilled prawns with garlic and they were really tasty. Also the black scabbard fish with banana and passion fruit sauce, I asked for the sauce on the side just to add it myself, the taste was interesting. The fish itself was very well made and tasty, the passion fruit sauce adds something extra when you want to change the taste.Portions are generous and they also bring potatoes, rice and green peas on the side, so it’s very filling.

My wife and I came here for dinner on Monday. The place is quite compact but there were many tables in the early evening. To start we ordered vegetable soup, and tomato and onion soup. Both were very tasty. For our main courses we ordered pork, and scabbard fish with banana. Again, both very tasty. There was a slight problem with the fish but they very quickly sorted it out. The portions with the mains were huge, possibly too huge. Value for money was excellent. We paid by card.

The restaurant first doesn‘t seem much because the dining area is in a cellar but as soon as you walk in you can smell the good food. We ordered the local delicacy „limpets“ which was interesting and tasted really good. Especially the garlic bread was a pleasure to bite in. It was fluffy and crispy on the outside and the melted garlic butter with a few herbs was amazing. For the seafood lovers I really recommend the grilled squid. The scabbard fish with banana and a passion fruit sauce was extremely tasty and you should definitely try it when you are there. The waiters where really friendly and also explained a few dishes we didn’t know to us. All in all it was a great decision to dine there and we would visit again.

Not a place I would normally visit if not google reviews:)But I would miss a real treat. It looks and tastes like prepared with love, home food.No big pressure on presentation.Very pleasant service, especially by owner but not only. Cook was singing in the kitchen.Espada was one of the better ones I ate on the island, especially with banana.Desserts like you would get them from your grandma kitchen. If she was Portuguese;)And the white Sangria… very dangerously good.
